Hi Kat, At Pike Place Market, I recently bought two mosaic "hands" with "stones in the palms. When I got back to my hotel later, I discovered they had a strong chemical odor, even after leaving them on patio for over 24 hours. These are not something I would want to put in my massage therapy offices, as originally intended.

Would you consider giving me a refund if I mailed these back to you? Thanks, Jane

Dear Jane, We have been selling hamsas so quickly that we are inking them up the day before they are sold – which is why they have the odor.  I usually include a card or at least a verbal warning when I sell them but ran out of cards and obviously didn’t let you know.  The smell really does go away after a few days.  Truly. We wouldn’t sell them otherwise.  It is the black ink that we use on them that you are smelling.  Keep them unwrapped for a few days (the plastic bubble wrap keeps the odor in) in a room or outside and the smell will go away.

I have absolutely no problem in giving you a refund. I would just like you to give the hamsas a bit more of a chance before I do. This is just a reminder to me how important it is to let people know about the odor and to try to keep them in our studio for a couple of days longer before taking them to the market to sell. ~ Kat
